ARM Standards Development |
Standard setting is one of ARM's 3 strategic areas of work. ARM focuses on fair trade standards which provide a market niche for small scale producers all over the world.
ARM develops standards following the ISEAL Code of Good Practice for standard setting.
A Technical Committee is elected consisting of representatives of key stakeholders from all sections of the supply chain.
As part of the development process, standards are submitted to public consultation involving inclusive multi-stakeholder processes combining face-to-face workshops and use of the Internet.
ARM is currently engaged in the development and field testing of standards for Fairtrade artisanal gold and associated metals, known as Standard Zero for Fairtrade Artisanal Gold and Associated Silver and Platinum.
In the medium term ARM will be working with key partners to develop Fair Trade standards for other precious stones and minerals, including diamonds.
